October 05, 2008 Welcome to my cool capri conversion, I have decided to share my experiences and challenges of converting this gas car to electric. As for the video I have no experience so you will have to excuse me for any errors in the making. And for all you people who want to have a go at converting your car to electric. JUST DO IT.
October 13, 2008 We have now removed the ICE and cleaned the bay and are ready to install the motor.
November 30, 2008 The motor is in, the mounting plate to hold the controller and other bits is also being made. I have got a battery box done up in Sydney, I have to get it upto Brisbane.
January 17, 2009 Well we have now come into the brand new year and only in the last few days have we started back on the project. I have now cut a rectangle area under the rear seat of the EV for the placement of the lithium batteries all 45 of them in there. We will now be welding the battery box in there and then the seat goes back on top of the box. As for the plate on top of the motor that too is now ready all I have to do is place the Curtis controller, vacumn pump, and the other bits to go on there we will get to that after the battery box welding is complete. Which will be done this weekend. I have not put any more pictures of the progress, so I will be taking a few pictures of all the stuff that I have done and posting it here this weekend. Also lookout for the Third episode of our video on ev cool capri on you tube.
February2, 2009 I have installed the battery box and now in the process of installing the heater/demister as sujjested by Goombi
February4, 2009 I have just made up a vacuum reservoir from PVC bought from Bunnings. To find the Male/Female Brass Nipple go to the tools section at Bunnings and look under where they display air compressor accessories, I have also used a female nipple inside the end cap for good grip. Also I decided on the PVC pipe that is wider than the downpipes the end cap on it says 100mm if that makes any sense, as for the size of the pipe I have measured the width of the front in the previously called engine bay so I do not know the capacity, let me know the size and capacity when you guys see the video, also I used the green coloured PVC cement as it is used for pressure. I also wanted to video how I made it but I forgot to have the camera by my side and by then I had already glued the end caps.
May 20, 2009 Well people I haven't been able to update for a while, due to work commitments and also working on the EV. Today I have finally just installed the battery charger and the battery management system. Tommorow is final check on the front end and all going well by Monday the first EV grin time
